Elena Runyon brings nearly 30 years of experience helping individuals overcome mental health, behavioral health, substance use, and trauma-related challenges. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, she is dedicated to creating treatment environments where healing, growth, and lasting recovery can occur.
Elena believes that every person has the capacity for change when provided the right support, structure, and therapeutic guidance. Her approach combines evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and genuine compassion to help individuals develop healthier coping skills, manage symptoms, rebuild confidence, and create meaningful lives in recovery.
Throughout her career, Elena has worked with adolescents and adults in residential treatment, community mental health, juvenile justice, and private practice settings. Her areas of focus include trauma, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioral interventions, and recovery-focused treatment.
At Canopy Pines, Elena is committed to fostering a culture of clinical excellence while ensuring that every resident feels respected, supported, and empowered on their journey toward healing and recovery.
Outside of her professional work, Elena enjoys spending time with her family and animals, reading, traveling, walking, and playing billiards. She believes that maintaining balance, meaningful connections, and personal interests is an important part of overall wellness and recovery. Her appreciation for lifelong learning, new experiences, and the therapeutic value of both nature and relationships helps shape the compassionate and person-centered approach she brings to her work each day.
