About Canopy Pines
A women-only recovery center built on clinical precision and 30 acres of North Florida land.
Mission and Values:
Canopy Pines was founded on a conviction that women deserve better addiction and mental health care than they have historically received: more specialized, more clinically rigorous, and delivered in an environment built entirely around their experience rather than adapted from a model designed for someone else.
Our mission is to provide women with psychiatrist-led, evidence-based, individually designed treatment that addresses addiction and mental health together, without rushing, without shortcuts, and without pretending that recovery follows a predictable schedule.
Our values are not complicated. Women deserve specialized care without shame attached. Addiction is a medical condition and requires a clinical response. Mental health conditions and substance use disorders rarely travel alone and must be treated together. Structure supports healing. Consistency builds the kind of trust that makes real therapeutic work possible. And this land, these trees, these horses, the particular quiet of North Florida on a morning in the pines, they are part of what makes healing happen here.
What Makes Us Different:
The clinical leadership at Canopy Pines is, without qualification, among the strongest found anywhere in women’s addiction and mental health treatment. Dr. Lantie Jorandby brings triple board-certification in general psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine, along with her Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale, faculty experience at Harvard Medical School, and more than two decades of practice across some of the most respected treatment institutions in the country. She is an active, practicing psychiatrist. She shapes the clinical direction of this program every day.
Beyond credentials, what distinguishes Canopy Pines is the absolute commitment to a women-only clinical environment. The evidence base for gender-responsive treatment is well-established. Women treated in women-only residential programs are better able to address the trauma histories, relational patterns, and social pressures specific to their lives. They share more honestly. They build stronger clinical alliances. The outcomes are meaningfully better.
Equine-assisted therapy is the third differentiator. At Canopy Pines, horses are part of the program because working alongside them is one of the most effective clinical tools available for developing the emotional regulation, present-moment awareness, and honest self-reflection that recovery depends on. The work is structured, supervised by certified equine therapy professionals, and integrated into the weekly clinical schedule.
Facility Overview:
The Canopy Pines property covers 30 acres on the outskirts of Tallahassee, Florida. The land is characteristic of North Florida: live oaks with wide, low canopies, longleaf pines, open pastures, and a quality of stillness that is genuinely hard to find this close to a city. Residential accommodations are comfortable and designed for focus. Clinical spaces include individual therapy offices, group therapy rooms, and outdoor therapeutic areas. Shared dining and common areas are where much of the informal community of recovery is built, meal by meal, conversation by conversation.
